alright guys i’m disappearing for a week to be in a musical about a dude who for some reason wears a rainbow coat in the old testament desert. see ya!
the national is just a really koala tea band okay
this has got to be one of the most beautiful things i’ve ever heard. i don’t know chess well or anything; i’m only familiar with the piece because it’s the background music on nicole’s blog. but anyways, give ‘er a listen.
So I recently, miraculously, got Thomas Merton’s “Book of Hours“ from my library (I call this a miracle because it’s a public library with Thomas Merton) and I found this gem while doing the Day reflection:
“All day I have been waiting for You with my faculties bleeding the poison of unsuppressed activity. I have waited for Your silence and Your peace to stanch and cleanse them, O my Lord.
You will heal my soul when it pleases You, because I have trusted in You.
I will no longer wound myself with the thoughts and questions that have surrounded me like thorns: that is a penance You do not ask of me.
You have made my soul for Your peace and Your silence, but it is lacerated by the noise of my activity and my desires. My mind is crucified all day by its own hunger for experience, for ideas, for satisfaction. And I do not possess my house in silence.
But I was created for Your peace and You will not despise my longing for the holiness of Your deep silence. O my Lord, You will not leave me forever in this sorrow, because I have trusted in You and I will wait upon Your good pleasure in peace and without complaining any more. This, for Your glory.”
needed this lately. thanks.

I don’t hate women, never have, never will.
Do what you want with your own body, piercings, tattoos, whatever. An abortion isn’t removing part of your body, it’s a completely different person with different DNA, different organs, and often a different blood type. Abortion is killing another living human being.
I don’t agree with abortions for any reason. I DO NOT SUPPORT/ DEFEND/ OR THINK RAPE IS OK, EVER. I don’t think that a child should be killed because he/ she was conceived in rape.
Crisis Pregnancy Centers are not evil. I’ve volunteered at one, I’ve seen them help women who need the help. The people there are some of the nicest people. They offer counseling for expecting women and women who have had abortions. They offer ultrasounds, baby clothes, food, educational classes and stuff like that.
Being religious doesn’t have anything to do with being pro-life, there are many non-religious who disagree with abortion. For me, being religious has made me more passionate about what I believe in, but that’s just me.
I am pro-life, I don’t support abortion, euthanasia, or the death penalty. They all take the life of a human being, no person should have the right to do that, unless in self-defense.
Well said! I get frustrated too. I am a woman - being pro life isn’t anti-woman.
agreed, and perfectly stated.
